What are your opeining dates?

Wicklow on Ice opens on Saturday the 27th of November 2021 and runs until Tuesday the 21st of December 2021.

How do I book?

Bookings can be made in advance on our website

Is there Parking?

Wicklow Town has ample car parking within walking distance of the Wicklow Christmas market venue. Free Parking Saturday and Sunday. Parking areas visible with AA signage.

what is the required age for the ice-skating experience?

Children must be six years of age to attend and also accompanied by an adult for supervision.

Do you have to sign a waiver?

Yes, you need to sign a release of liability waiver before you can enter the ice rink.

How long does the ice-skating session take place?

The ice-skating time slots allocated are approximately thirty minutes per session.

What time do I arrive?

Please arrive twenty minutes before your allocated time slot.

Do we bring our own skates?

Skate hire is available and included in price of ticket.

Is there any peniguins to skate with?

We will provide penguins free of charge.

Can I bring my own skates?


Do I need to bring socks?

Yes, each skater must bring their own socks.

Is there food and drink available for purchase at the rink?

Wicklow on eco ice is an experience within wicklow christmas market which has an abundance of food stalls.

What if it rains?

Wicklow on eco ice has a canopy over our rink, to keep skaters dry.

Are there toilets on site?

Yes, there are toilets within the grounds. We recommend visiting the toilets prior to your skate time.

Covid 19

We are following all COVID -19 rules,regulations and guidelines setout by the Government.A valid immunisation Certificate for Adults and children 12 and over is required and proof of IDfor Adults is required to attend our Ice Rink .If you have an exemption please advice us at ADULTS AND CHILDREN 12 AND OVER ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK IN THE ICE RINK ARENA

Do the stall holders accept card?

Although some stallholders provide chip and pin machines, some of them take cash only. Please come prepared with plenty of money for quick and easy purchases.

Santa Express FAQs

What happens at the Santa Express experience?

Santa Claus is coming to town- Wicklow Town! Wicklow Christmas Market is delighted to announce that Santa is bringing his Santa Express to visit us, and has an exciting day planned out for you and your family. You can also explore the magical Christmas Market grounds, including: Alpaca experience Artisan food and coffee Craft stalls Fun Fair Live entertainment Letter-posting station at Santa’s official postbox The Santa Express will then transport you to Santa’s home, driven by the mischievous elf Oribel. He’ll take you to meet his team of elves led by Elf and Safety, the dynamic duo, where you will have loads of fun before meeting Mrs. Claus, who will read one of her favorite Christmas tales! Of course, Santa will be waiting to meet all of the boys and girls so they can tell him their Christmas wishes. Families will meet Santa as a group, then each child will receive a special gift.

Do I need a ticket for my baby?


What do I need to bring with me?

You will need: your printed ticket, dress appropriately (this is both an indoor and outdoor event), please note no buggies are allowed during the event. Video recording equipment of any kind is not allowed on the Santa visit as there will be other children present.

Is the Santa Express an indoor or outdoor event?

The event is both an indoor and outdoor event, so please dress appropriately for our unpredictable Irish weather!

How long does the Santa Express experience last?

The Santa express will take 30-35 minutes Your Start time will be stated on your ticket. Please arrive at least 15mins before your start time so as to gain entry at the North Pole train station .Please allow sufficient time for unforeseen delays (e.g. weather, traffic delays etc.)

Can I bring my pushchair/buggy onto the train?

No sorry, You will be able to use your child’s buggy within the grounds of Wicklow Christmas Market up until your Santa experience starts.We have a covered area for buggy storage at the start of the experience.

Is the Santa Express wheelchair friendly?

The Santa express train is not wheelchair accessible but the rest of the experience is .We have an alternative wheelchair accessible route to Santa ,please email once your booking is complete to let us know

Can I get a photo with Santa?

Yes, you can prebook our new social distancng Santa photo during the booking process or pay on the day of your visit

Can I get a refund due to adverse weather conditions?

Tickets cannot be refunded unless your Santa express event is cancelled. See Terms and Conditions for further details.

Is there parking at the Santa Express?

Wicklow Town has ample car parking within walking distance of the Wicklow Christmas Market Venue. Those travelling to the Santa express experience by car can avail of 2 hours free parking on Saturdays and free parking ALL day Sundays.

Is there a handling fee for ticket changes?

Yes, we do not change travel, date or times except in exceptional circumstances. Should you wish to transfer your tickets to another date, we would charge a handling fee of €20 per booking.

Do you have a sensory Santa experience?

Yes, we have a Sensory Santa train Friday 03rd and Friday 10th from 10am-12 noon, sensory Santa tickets are booked off line ,please e-mail

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed on the Santa Express. Pets on a leash are permitted on public walkways however.
